The problem that I have with email on the iphone is that it's not instant and often it takes a while to come through. The Twitter service can be set to text alert in an instant (well as long as it takes to connect to Twitter). Last week at Spurn it worked very well with the Yorkshire stuff coming through on text. During the first weekend of my trial I did have the Twitter service and Birdguides running together. I was very impressed with the Twitters ease of use and decided to sign up. There's very little between them price wise you choose.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13630311728159170799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456915384191644466.post-20224521328109215052010-09-11T15:30:28.177+01:002010-09-11T15:30:28.177+01:00I think you will find you can sort your e-mails by...I think you will find you can sort your e-mails by using so-called Message Rules. Royal Mail was more efficient then, and they usually arrived within two days.

We all saw fewer rarities, but enjoyed what we did see much more. Didn't even have a land-line then and mobiles weren't invented.

Happy days!Colinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11446633849804166300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456915384191644466.post-47807746227467162782010-08-30T13:24:38.863+01:002010-08-30T13:24:38.863+01:00I can see what you mean Alan, however how many bir...I can see what you mean Alan, however how many birders out in the field will want to re tweet messages to their mates etc? I certainly can't be bothered doing that. What's to stop me forwarding emails or texts in the same way or cutting and pasting the message body from RBA or Birdguides and posting it the same way.
Not sure what Birdnets future plans are but for now I'll be sticking with it.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13630311728159170799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456915384191644466.post-72895240023961393692010-08-30T12:06:40.083+01:002010-08-30T12:06:40.083+01:00Whilst I can see how the format is attractive I do...Whilst I can see how the format is attractive I do wonder about the long term viability of using Twitter as the basis of a profitable business. How long before birders realise they can re-tweet to mates without mates having to pay and organise themselves into discreet groups only paying one membership?
From Birdnet's perspective they must also have some nervousness that their service performance is outside of their control, if Twitter gets attacked virally or goes down there is little they can do, if Twitter adopts an in-message advertising policy or brings in some form of charge, again nothing Birdnet can doAlan Tilmouthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10201030182018368937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456915384191644466.post-73090827536492627202010-08-29T22:39:14.180+01:002010-08-29T22:39:14.180+01:00Good innit, I can see lots of people switching ove...Good innit, I can see lots of people switching over to this it seems to me to be about as perfect as it can get.Yorkslisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17611232646706143884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456915384191644466.post-74654378597990695582010-08-29T19:02:33.930+01:002010-08-29T19:02:33.930+01:00Hi Mark,
