Looking at the style of this new blog (http://birdingblogs.com), I can't imagine there is going to be any swearing on it. I could be wrong, but it looks like they're going for mass market appeal, which generally means appeasing those who don't like to see any 'bad language'.
Looking forward to reading Tom's posts though - I'm sure they will still be funny even if there's no swearing.
Don't know whether they are having some technical problems, but this new blog doesn't seem to have been updated since Thursday. There was a post on Friday, but it doesn't show up on the home page, and nothing else has appeared since!
Actually the posts are there, including Tom's for today, but they take some finding - I presume there is a problem, as the home page is still showing the gulls post. And it's not updating on my blogroll either.
I was away for 8 days in Sira Mts in Central Peru - and no...I did not see the fuckin Tanager..on my 3rd attempt (and entitled to swearing) - and basically left 10 Wordpress virgins on their own - with a WP Super Cache plugin - not properly calibrated for the massive visits to the site (NOT!). There were daily posts, but the cache did not show them!
Anyway, meanwhile Dale Forbes took a WP crash course...and sorted it out...and I managed to screw it up for about 3 hours again today leaving all blogposts inreadable...but now it works like a clock (I hope).
I told Tom from the start, that I expected he'd use his own voice, as he pleased. There will be absolutely, NO censorship! There should be some hick-ups among the American readers...but you'd be surprised how liberal American birders can be (are there even any conservative American birders?...I have yet to meet one in Peru!) Maybe, we'd have to put an R or PG-13 label on the posts on Mondays. (Hahaha!) I think it is a strength of the new blog, that we have 11 bloggers who will do their absolutely best once a week. We are in for a some excellent content...and for myself..I don't mind at all if it has an edge!

I too must admit to being a bit disappointed by the absence of any swearing...
We'll just have to make up for it with extra swearing on our low readership, single author, updated when we feel like it, dare I say 'real' blogs.
That's if I can be arsed to write anything at all now that the usual post-Shetland, beginning-of-winter apathy has set in.
Apparently Tom's entries are un-edited! John what have you been reading - Tom hasn't posted anything yet?

Enjoying The blog very much Gunnar. Tom's two posts have had me chuckling loudly. With or without the swearing he's a funny guy.
Good work.
